The note comes as a crackdown on people begging in Preston has begun.
Hand-written and on a ripped piece of cardboard the note says ‘Sorry. Just a note to say sorry for sleeping in your doorway.
“I was moved on from everywhere I slept. Thank you for not throwing my things away. Most people would. I’ve moved the rubbish.
“Thank you so much. I’m actually homeless. From Chris.”
BBC North West Tonight followed up Blog Preston’s story and went down to the shop to speak to the staff member who found the note.
Preston Police revealed on Thursday that Preston City Council had issued five community protection warning letters to people found begging on the streets who they say have a home and are claiming benefits.
