Preston Police closed off Fishergate while the car was towed off the raised kerb.

Lancashire County Council introduced the shared space layout to Fishergate in late 2014 and the plinth has taken a tumble a number of times since then – causing damage to front bumpers.

The new road layout has been criticised by business groups who say it is causing gridlock in the city during busy shopping periods.
