A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman fell from a block of flats in Preston City Centre.

Preston Police have launched an investigation after a 25-year-old woman fell from Sandown Court in Avenham.

The incident took place shortly before 8am on Friday (26 August).

The woman suffered serious injuries after falling from a flat on the eighth floor.

She remains in Royal Preston Hospital in a critical condition.

A 29-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody. Police say they are treating the incident as ‘unexplained’.

Extra police patrols were in the Avenham area on Friday to reassure the public.
