Footage has emerged showing a tanker stranded on the M6 moments after jack-knifing.
The blue vehicle is seen by the passenger stranded near Junction 31A of the M6.
Chris Burdon captured the footage as he was heading south on the motorway just after 1pm on Friday (15 July).
Chris said: “My Dad was driving in front and my brother and I were behind and we had missed the turn for the M55.
“As we were making our way to the next junction then the lorry came over. We had to brake hard and put the hazard lights on to avoid colliding with it.
“My Dad went by shortly after and he said he didn’t see anyone in the driver’s cab. So I hope the guy is okay.
“As we came back from the next junction I saw a police car in a lay by and ambulance was there too.”
A salvage operation after the incident caused delays of two hours for many drivers as Preston became gridlocked with drivers trying to avoid the crash.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene to make the tanker safe.
The condition of the driver is not currently known, but the fire service said they were not aware of any injuries.
