A pensioner had her bag snatched by a group of teenagers in Penwortham.
AdvertisementPolice are appealing for witnesses to the incident on a pathway between Marsh Way and Pope Lane.
The 72-year-old woman was riding a mobility scooter when she was approached by three teenage boys on bikes.
One of the group cycled towards the woman and snatched a shopping bag from the right handlebar, before a second teenager attempted to take the second bag of shopping.
The pensioner managed to stop the second bag from being removed and the group, described as being white, slim and with short dark hair, cycled off.
Police say the incident happened between 3.45pm and 4.30pm on Wednesday 29 June.
PC David Gelson of Lancashire Police said: “This was a particularly appalling and despicable theft.
“Three youths have targeted a 72-year-old woman on a secluded pathway between Marsh Way and Pope Lane, stealing her shopping as she made her way home.
“We are keen to find those responsible and would ask anyone who saw or heard anything to contact police.
“We understand the area is popular with dog walkers and would appeal to anyone with information to contact us immediately.”
