Preston’s newly refurbished Fish Market canopy is to gaze down on a new weekly market.
AdvertisementBeginning from Sunday (3 July) the city council is offering stalls from £5 per table.
The Fish Market canopy was recently refurbished at a cost of £600,000 and parking under it is to be banned during Sundays.
Instead the Sunday Market is to be there to give Prestonian traders a chance to sell vintage, antiques, crafts, food, collectables, household and furniture.

Leader of the city council councillor Peter Rankin said: “The Fish Market canopy provides a great location for a Sunday Market – offering cover from the elements, ensuring people can sell their wares whatever the weather.
“Introducing this new Market complements the existing outdoor offer, growing Preston Markets as a whole and adds another element to the Markets Quarter project.
“The Harris Museum also launches their new opening times this weekend, which includes Sundays. This, coupled with the new market, will hopefully bring more life to this part of the city on Sundays.”
