The Union Flag at half mast

The Union Flag is flying at half mast above Preston Town Hall in memory of those killed in Nice.

A truck rammed into a crowd during Bastille Day celebrations in the French city.

At least 84 people are understood to have died in the apparent terrorist attack.

Preston City CouncilĀ has lowered the flag in a mark of respect to the French nation.

Council leader councillor Peter Rankin said the flag would remain at half mast until Monday.

He said the scenes in Nice were ‘dreadful’.
