The M6 near Preston is seeing heavy congestion southbound after a tanker crash.
AdvertisementHighways England is reporting severe delays on the motorway from Junction 31A back to Junction 33.
The Broughton roundabout is gridlocked and the M55 heading eastbound from Junction 3 to 1 where it joins the M6 is congested and expected to remain so until the Friday evening rush hour ends.
Two lanes were closed after the tanker crashed and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to clear the wreckage around 1.10pm. Video footage has emerged showing the jack-knifed tanker.
A spokesman from the fire service said: “One fire engine from Fulwood attended an RTC on the M6 between 32 and 31 after a HGV jack-knifed on the hard shoulder and lane one.
“Firefighters made the scene safe and passed on the recovery of the HGV to a specialist company. The Service was not made aware of any injuries.”
