It’s been a strange few weeks for politics across the UK.

In the wake of Britain voting for Brexit in the EU referendum, the chessboard hasn’t so much had moving pieces as been thrown off the table entirely.

Today saw one of the more bizarre moments unfurl on Twitter.

Ben Wallace, Conservative MP for Wyre and Preston North, replied to a tweet from a Times journalist asking which Game of Thrones character Michael Gove most compares to.

The response probably wasn’t what we expected.

As fans of the show will know, Theon Greyjoy has his manhood removed by an antagonist as part of an extended spell of what can only be described as severe misfortune.

Definitely one of the stranger things we’ve seen online since the EU referendum, but it did get a lot of laughs on Twitter.
