More new homes could be built on the edge of Preston.
Wyre Council has received plans from Emery Planning for 72 new houses in Barton.
The land, right on the border with Preston, is just off the A6.
A number of new shops would also be created with the development of the homes, as developers want to create a ‘local centre’.
Land around the site has been subject to a number of different planning applications in recent years.
Plans for 72 homes were submitted to Preston City Council just 200m away from the development site, which ended in a planning appeal which concluded in June 2016 with the city council conceding it could not demonstrate a five-year supply of housing.

Emery Planning claim the planning decisions in the nearby area ‘firmly establish that Barton is a locationally sustainable settlement for the provision of new residential development’.
Preston City Council have been asked by Wyre Council for their comments on the plans.
