Engineers for United Utilities are assessing whether they need to close a rural road.

Lancashire Police said on Wednesday afternoon there is a burst water main off Whittingham Lane in Goosnargh, between Church Lane and Cumeragh Lane.

A spokesman for United Utilities said they had a team of engineers working on site.

He said: “It’s one of our underground trunk ways that is affected. Therefore there’s no residential supplies impacted by this, as we use these lines to move water between reservoirs.

“At this stage we have not applied to close the road as we don’t know the extent of the issue.”
