A Penwortham pub has reopened following an extensive refurbishment under a new landlord.
AdvertisementTim Hughes invited South Ribble MP Seema Kennedy down to pull the first pint a The Pear Tree.
The pub in Leyland Road has been closed while £200,000 has been spent by owners Star Pubs on ripping out the interior and bringing it up to date.
Mr Hughes says he wants to put cask ale ‘centre stage’ in the pub, with specially brewed ale Kick Off ready for Euro 2016.
He said: “I’m delighted that Kick Off is one of the first. It’s the perfect pint for both the start of the Pear Tree’s future and the Euros which we’ll be showing on the pub’s new big screens.”

All parts of the pub have been given a makeover, from the cellar to the toilets.
Mr Hughes said: “The Pear Tree was looking pretty sorry for itself when I first saw it.
“Now, it looks fantastic and I’m thrilled to be able to give it back to the community. Having their support and that of our MP has meant everything to me throughout all the work and upheaval. I just hope they’re as pleased with the Pear Tree’s refurbishment as I am.”

Seema Kennedy joined Mr Hughes to formally open the pub on Friday lunchtime.
She said: “It is great to see the development of local businesses. Pubs can be such a great community asset and to see this level of investment is fantastic. I look forward to seeing the Pear Tree thrive and am delighted to have had the opportunity to pull the first pint.”
