Boarded up buildings on Preston’s Church Street have been torn down ahead of major work in the area.
AdvertisementPreston City Council had sought permission to knock down a former takeaway and shops on the corner of Grimshaw Street.
The buildings had become unsafe after years of no use and the council wants to sell off the land. It had tried to find a buyer but none came forward.

Church Street is due for some TLC in the coming years as the Fishergate scheme is extended up there, along with the Queen Street retail park expansion.

Aldi has been completed and the Brookhouse Group has further plans for the site.

Just a little further down from the demolished buildings in Church Street scaffolding has gone up on Church Court – which is due to be renovated and be home to flats and new shops.
