Why a fire engine was called to St George’s Centre last night

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service was called to St George’s Centre last night.

The sight of sirens and alarms blurring from the shopping centre caused concern amongst those in the area at the time.

A fire engine was on the scene at around 11.00pm at the Lune Street entrance.

A statement this morning confirmed that the alarm was set of by a technical failure at the shopping centre.

There was a recurrence of the failure again at around 11.43pm.

There was no damage at the shopping centre and nobody was injured.
