The new kids play area in the park
A once derelict patch of land in Fulwood is to see a toddler play area built at Preston’s newest park.
Sharoe Green Lane and Sherwood’s Community Association has been successful in securing £10,000 for the new play area for Levensgarth Park.
Chairman of the community association Nigel Parker said: “We’re delighted with securing this additional fuding from the Big Lottery Awards.
“The money will fund the construction of a toddler play area for the Levensgarth Park Project comprising equipment for children of toddler age plus additional seating.
“The Association’s committee has been working closely with the city council’s parks department who will be organising the equipment purchase and installation in what has been a very productive partnership over the last four years in transforming this once practically derelict site.
Mr Parker said the junior play area, completed in November 2014, has been a big hit with families flocking to the park during the recent warm weather.
He said he hoped the new toddler play area would be in place ready for the school summer holidays.
