Motorists in Preston city centre have been left confused by a sign announcing the start of works at the city’s bus station.

The grade II listed building is due to undergo a £23m facelift and see a Preston Youth Zone built next to it on the western apron.

Lancashire County Council has put up a sign warning of closures to the exit ramps.

Investigation work is taking place on the ramps up to the car park at both ends of the Bus Station.

The sign states: “North exit ramp to the South exit ramps closed 19th May 2016.”

A statement on the county council’s website, where they list all upcoming roadworks, says investigation works to both north and south side of the ramps for the car park is taking place from Monday 16 May until Friday 20 May.

A full planning application for the Bus Station works is due to be lodged in the coming weeks.
