A man has been rescued on the M6 after getting his hand trapped while changing a tyre.

The motorist was on the hard shoulder between Junction 32 (Preston) and Junction 33 (Galgate) on Tuesday (31 May) morning.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews, one from Preston and one from Garstang, after a request from the North West Ambulance Service.

They found the man had got his hand trapped between the jack and the car.

An inflatable air-bag was used to raise the vehicle and resuce the man, who was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.
