The long, slow, march of a 150 tonne transformer through the streets of Preston has begun.
Lifted into position at Preston Docks on Friday lunchtime the heavy load is now being driven through the city.
Setting off from the Docks at 8am it had reached the top of North Road by the university at 10am.
Preston Police are providing an escort to the transformer which is heading for Padiham, and will get onto the motorway at Junction 31A.

Andy Speariett is following the heavy load on its route and said: “There’s some skill to driving this.
“It’s ok on the flat but when it goes round corners they have to swing it round first and then drive it round the back.
“As they came round the UCLan roundabout they were inches off the lights. It’s quite a sight to behold!”
The heavy load joins the M6
The giant load joined the M6 southbound at junction 31a around 11.30am on Sunday, causing some minor delays while Blue Bell Way was closed.
