The owner of a hair salon in Fulwood has called on fellow business owners and residents to object to a new chain coffee shop.Advertisement
Costa Coffee has tabled plans to convert the former HSBC Bank at the junction of Black Bull Lane and Garstang Road.
Natalie Roberts-Steel, 39, who has traded for nine years in Garstang Road, says she wants to highlight the chain’s opening to the council.
She said: “It seems any new premises is either a coffee or charity shop.
“As a business owner directly across from the premises I am aware Costa will create a better view.
“But my worry is for my fellow business owners that work incredibly hard offering food and coffee services.”
Natalie has asked for residents to lobby the council on the issue.
She said: “I’ve seen many comments from people saying they don’t want another coffee shop.
“We have worries about parking around what is a very busy junction and I think the council need to keep this in mind.
“I want Fulwood to be a thriving area. It’s always been fabulous for people to be able to walk to a real mix of services.”
The full plans are available to view on the Preston City Council website and anyone wishing to comment can do so there.
