A Preston pub has been closed off following an armed raid.

The police helicopter at Warton was scrambled to the Fleece Inn at Penwortham.

A number of tweets suggest armed police responded to an incident near the pub around 10pm on Sunday (May 1).

NPAS Warton tweeted: “Assist Lancashire Police with suspect search at Penwortham following incident at public house. Search area cleared. Enquiries ongoing.”

Update: Pub manager says they will be ‘open as usual’ after armed raid

Katy Slater, a staff member at the pub, confirmed they were robbed at gunpoint at 9.50pm. No one was hurt during the incident and it is not known how much was taken.

One man is understood to have entered the pub and pulled a firearm on staff and demanded money. No shots were fired.
