A Penwortham pub says it is ‘business as usual’ after a terrifying Bank Holiday raid.
AdvertisementOne staff member at the Fleece Inn was left shaken when she found a man with a gun in their back office.
The man threatened the staff member and left her with minor injuries as he pulled a firearm on her and asked for the takings.
Debra Ellis, manager at the Liverpool Road pub, said police were continuing their enquiries.
She said: “We’ve had a police car sat outside all night and they are still looking for the man as far as I know.
“The man was in the back office, he’d forced his way in, and when the girl came round he was there. She wasn’t badly hurt, more shaken that’s all, and he took what was in the till. There were no shots fired.
“We don’t have any CCTV but the police said they will be checking the shops across the road.”
Around 80 to 100 people were in the Liverpool Road pub at 9.50pm on Sunday (May 1) when the incident took place.
Debra said: “We’re going to be open as normal from 12noon. I hope people come out and support us.
“It’s a terrifying thing to happen but we won’t let it stop us opening for the Bank Holiday football.”
Lancashire Police are appealing for information and anyone who saw anything is asked to call 101.
