A section of a busy Preston road is due to be closed for a fortnight due to roadworks.
AdvertisementEastway in Fulwood, between Garstang Road and the roundabout with Lightfoot Lane is to be shut.
There will be no access from Monday 9 May until Monday 23 May.
You won’t be able to turn from the A6 into the roundabout heading west from the main road.
Lancashire County Council says the work is needed to excavate a verge so they can build a three metre pathway. The road is due to be resurfaced at the same time.
The May works are to be followed by work on Eastway at the junction with Longfield.
Roadworks in June will see multi-way signals put in place to allow the construction of a footpath and cycle on the south side of Eastway from the A6 to a third of the way between the Eastern Dumbell roundabout and Longfield. The junction is also to be turned into a roundabout to allow access to future housing developments on land near Eastway.
The work will take four months but will not see the road closed. The county council says the work is to cost £818,000.
The works come as temporary signals are already in place for Broughton Bypass works further up the A6.
