A Preston man was left with a broken cheekbone after an assault in the city centre.
AdvertisementPreston Police have called for witnesses to come forward after the assault near Preston Minster.
Detective Sergeant Jerry Sturgess described the incident as ‘brutal’.
Two men approached the man, aged 19, around 2.30am on Sunday 3 April when he was walking from Church Street around 2.30am.
One of the men chased the victim before punching him twice, leaving him unconscious.
The two men then ran off in the direction of Avenham.
The attacker is described as white, in his late teens/early twenties, of chubby build and around 5ft 8in/ 5ft 9in tall. He had dark brown wavy hair which was held back in a head band. He was clean shaven and was wearing a long sleeved black shirt with dark coloured chino type trousers.
The second man is described as white, of slim build, around 5ft 8in with short shaven hair. He was wearing a dark top and jeans.
Det Sgt Jerry Sturgess, of Preston CID, said: “This was a completely unprovoked and callous attack on a defenceless individual.
“The offenders have approached the victim from behind before carrying out a cowardly assault.
“I urge anyone with any information at all to come forward.”
