Nearly £2,000 has already been raised by friends and family of a Preston man who died while out working in Thailand.Advertisement
Jason Edmondson, known to his friends as Jay, who was 25 at the time, has been remembered with a charity football match and a silent auction.
Owen Yates, who helped organise the events, said it was a fitting tribute.
He said: “We had a great day from start to finish.
“The football tournament saw 15 teams take part and we had a minutes silence before the kick off as a tribute to Jason.
“There was music in Baluga afterwards for the night in his memory.”
Fundraising from the events is going to the Children On The Edge charity.
A silent auction via Facebook is running for prizes including signed football shirts, meals out and more. There’s also a Justgiving page where donations can be made.
It runs until 10pm on Thursday 7 April for bids to be placed.
