Prestonians are being urged not to use Santander cash points to withdraw their cash.
AdvertisementLancashire Police has issued a warning, covering the whole county, after they have received reports of a number of the cash machines being targeted by scammers.
A spokesman said: “With regard to specific areas, the advice is to avoid Santander machines throughout Lancashire. We are still taking reports but a series of similar incidents last week occurred in all parts of the County.
“The advice therefore, is not limited to a specific area or town. It is not clear if machines beyond Lancashire have been targeted, so customers outside of Lancashire should contact Santander if they are concerned or see anything suspicious.”
Santander says it is unable to deactivate the cash machines.
Anyone wanting to report issues relating to this incident can call the police on 101.
If anyone suspects they have had their card details stolen they are advised to call Santander.
