Two Preston women who died in a crash at Brockholes Brow have been named.
Rachel Murphy, 23, from Ribbleton and Shelby Maher, 17, from Deepdale, died on Wednesday evening.
The incident took place around 6.30pm on Wednesday (20 April) when five people were walking down the A59 at Brockholes Brow.
Tributes are being paid on social media to Rachel and Shelby. Rachel’s family have released a statement in her memory.
Rachel died at the scene while Shelby was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where she later died.
Preston Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
Sergeant James Power, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “Two young people have tragically lost their lives in this collision and their families are being supported at this time by specially trained officers.
“I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened to contact the police on 101 quoting log number 1233 of April 21st.”
A 15-year-old girl is in Manchester Childrens Hospital receiving treatment after the collision, she has a suspected broken arm and leg.
A 21-year-old driver of a BMW involved is being treated for shock but has no injuries.
