Artist impressions of the new Market and cinema development
Six new pictures have been released showing how Preston’s new markets and cinema development may look.
Architects drawings show how the £50m development would look with the refurbished covered market including internal glazing and permanent market stalls.
A new car park would front onto the Ringway with some rather crazy cladding being considered.
The art deco frontage of Lancastria House is due to be kept as part of the scheme, with the 11-screen cinema and restaurant building behind it replacing the current indoor market hall.
Timescales for the building indicate the new cinema would be open by 2020, with the markets work completed by 2018.
Preston City Council is consulting on the plans with members of the public able to see the proposals at the St George’s Shopping Centre on Saturday and Monday.
Here’s how the scheme may look from different angles
