Preston city centre is once again gridlocked as Bank Holiday shoppers try to make their escape.
AdvertisementMotorists are reporting delays of more than hour trying to exit the St George’s Shopping Centre car park.
An serious collision on the M61 northbound at Walton Summit could be a partial cause of the queues but officials at the car park have been telling motorists it is ‘sheer volume of traffic’.
Thomas Fisher tweeted at 12.53pm to complaint of his slow move up to Fishergate and down it, blaming the shared space layout.

At Christmas the measure was taken to bring in signal controls at Butler Street and Fishergate to help ease congestion.
Jenny Richardson, 37, had been out shopping in the city and is bumper to bumper in the car park.
She says ‘I wish I hadn’t come to Preston’ for her shopping trip. She’s now taken her son home to Longton on the bus, leaving her husband to try and get the car out.
