Inside how Preston’s new look Indoor Market may be presented
Planning application for the new Market Hall and associated improvements has now been submitted.
This brings the redevelopment of Preston’s Markets Quarter one step closer.
The application runs alongside Muse Development’s application for a new 11-screen cinema, seven restaurants and a multi-story car park.

The proposals for the new Market Hall comprise a free-standing structure located under a refurbished and redecorated 1865 Market canopy.
The Fish Market canopy, currently undergoing restoration, will be used for trading and interim storage as part of the proposals.
St George’s Centre has hosted public consultation events this month regarding Preston City Council’s proposals for the Markets Quarter with the majority in favour.
Adrian Phillips, director of environment at Preston City Council said:“The submission of the planning application is another milestone in the regeneration of Preston’s Markets Quarter and an important step in delivering the revitalised market offer that Preston deserves.”
The council has also thanked St George’s Centre for their help with consultations.
John Bridge, Frank Whittle Partnership said: “We’ve had fantastic support and enthusiasm from local people, businesses and market traders, to whom we are really grateful for their patience and understanding.
“We’re making real progress for the markets and for Preston.”
