A former UCLan student is believed to have been killed while fighting for ISIS, according to reports from The Mirror.
Abdulrahman Shariff enrolled at UCLan in 2014 while his brother Khalif Shariff was at Lancaster University.
The brothers’ parents have allegedly been made aware by ISIS militants that Abdulrahman has been killed while Khalif is missing and presumed dead.
A UCLan spokesman said: “The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) can confirm that Abdul Rahman Shariff was enrolled as a first year student in the autumn of 2014 but left the University shortly after the commencement of his course.”
The family of the brothers alerted counter-terrorism police when the Abdulrahman and Khalif are believed to have left for Syria in November 2014.
The Foreign Office has refused to confirm whether the reports are accurate.
