The brothers’ parents have allegedly been made aware by ISIS militants that Abdulrahman has been killed while Khalif is missing and presumed dead.

A UCLan spokesman said: “The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) can confirm that Abdul Rahman Shariff was enrolled as a first year student in the autumn of 2014 but left the University shortly after the commencement of his course.”

The family of the brothers alerted counter-terrorism police when the Abdulrahman and Khalif are believed to have left for Syria in November 2014.

The Foreign Office has refused to confirm whether the reports are accurate.
