A man is in hospital after being struck by a car near a Preston pub.

The collision near the Lea Gate pub in Blackpool Road at Lea has left a man in his 60s with serious injuries.

Preston Police say the man was crossing the road when the incident took place.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Blackpool Road was closed for more than four hours while emergency services treated the man involved and assessed the scene.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said they gave the man first aid at the scene before he was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.
