An inspirational Preston man who is battling terminal bowel cancer has completed the London Marathon.
AdvertisementBen Ashworth, who lives in Broadgate, took on the challenge alongside his wife Louise.
They got around in 5 hours and 55 minutes and it was backdropped by the news that Ben’s tumour has expanded.
Ben took to Facebook to post an update saying: “The London Marathon was brilliant today. We got round in 5hrs55. Louise has had a rough time in training so I’m very pleased for her.
“We didn’t stop smiling the whole way round. The funny thing about my health situation getting an awful lot more serious recently is that Louise and are just feeling so in love. She’s a wonderful woman and I’m a lucky bloke.
“We won’t let bowel cancer spoil the time we have as a couple or a family. I ran my three marathons this month and all under 6hrs, not just that but alongside treatment too. I was very fit at the beginning of the month, so I’m very pleased.”
