Preston’s Flag Market is to become a showcase for artists from the city and beyond.
AdvertisementAn open invite to the artistic community has been launched by Preston City Council.
Up to £1,000 is being offered for each date and artists are being urged to ‘push the boundaries’ to create family-friendly events.
A statement says: “This can take any form, interactive games, live theatre, mass participation dance, traditional or contemporary dance, dynamic workshops. The sky is the limit, everything and anything aimed at families will be considered.”
Two dates in May are to be the family festival, on Saturday 14 May and Saturday 21 May between 12noon and 4pm.
Anyone wanting to apply must have public liability insurance up to £5m and must submit their ideas by 12noon on Wednesday 27 April.

Happening later in the summer is the Saturday Summer series, with the same funding available for six Saturdays throughout the summer.
They are 4 June, 18 June, 2 July, 9 July, 30 July and 6 August between 12noon and 4pm.
Anyone applying must get their proposal in by 12noon on Tuesday 3 May.
