Cuerden Valley Park has a host of different events on during the spring and summer months.
AdvertisementFrom ale festivals to farmers markets there’s plenty for foodies and those wanting to keep fit can tackle the notorious Badger Runs.
Here’s a run through of what’s happening and when.
Tuesday 15 April – history talk by Alison Whitham about the history of Cuerden Hall and the estate. Free for kids and £3 for adults, £2 if you’re a friend of the park. Runs from 7.15pm to 9pm.
Sunday 15 May – the annual Cuerden Valley Fair. There’s rides, games, stalls, crafts, hawks and woodland crafts. £8 for the family, £4 adults and £2 for children. Runs from 10am to 4pm.
Thursday 2 June – the first of the summer’s Badger Runs. A 10k route round the park, organised by Wesham Road Runners. £6 to enter if you’re a club member, or £7 and it is £19.50 to take on all three of the summer runs. Starts at 7.30pm.
Friday 3 June to Sunday 5 June – Beer Festival. More than 40 ales are on tap, including cider and lager. The Walled Orchard hosts live music. £5 to enter and includes a free glass and programme. Friday and Saturday from 1pm to midnight, and Sunday 1pm to 10pm.
Saturday 2 July to Sunday 3 July – Roots Reggae Festival. Live music, food as a slice of Jamaica comes to South Ribble. Tickets available on Skiddle, £17 per day.
Thursday 7 July – the second Badger Run from 7.30pm
Sunday 10 July – Animal Magic. Birds of prey and lots of other animals around the Walled Orchard. £2 for adults, £1 for children, family ticket £5.
Thursday 4 August – the third and final Badger Run from 7.30pm.
Friday 5 August – Sunday 7 August – Beer festival time again. £5 in and three days of ale, cider and food in the Walled Orchard.
Tuesday 9 August and Tuesday 16 August – Bat detectives. A popular walk from 7.15pm to 11pm on the lookout for the bats in the parks. Needs to be booked by calling 01772324436.
Saturday 20 August to to Sunday 21 August – Outdoor Cinema in the Walled Orchard. Films to be confirmed.
Last Sunday of each month – The Cuerden Valley farmers’ market with fresh produce and boutique food and drink. 10am to 2pm.
