On Mondays and Thursdays for the next three months there are free sessions being held to help make materials for a science project for schoolchildren.

The University of Central Lanashire’s shop, at the Lune Street entrance of the St George’s Shopping Centre, is the venue for the knitting classes.

Fibre artist Caroline Finnigan takes the lessons and they are for beginners upwards.

The sessions run from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Mondays and 1pm to 3pm on Thursdays.

Free refreshments are available on the day and anyone wanting more information can contact Dr Liz Grainger on 01772894286 or email ysc@uclan.ac.uk
