Two men are being hunted by police after a man was attacked with a knife and metal bar outside his front door.
Preston Police were called to Frenchwood Street near the city centre at 11.45pm on Friday.
A man was stood at the door of his house when he was approached by two men.
The victim was forced back inside his home while being hit with a knife and metal bar.
Demands for money were made before the two men fled the property and ran towards Avenham.
The 54-year-old victim suffered serious facial injuries during the attack.
The first attacker is described as a white male, in his 20s, of slim build and around 5ft 7in tall. He was wearing a blue jacket and was wearing a cap.
The second offender is described as a white male in his 20s and around 6’2” tall. He was wearing a blue jacket with blue trousers or jeans and had a wooly hat with gloves.
Det Sgt Jerry Sturgess, of Preston CID, said: “This was a very vicious and serious attack.
“The offenders seemed to have targeted the victim and first attacked him from behind before carrying out a cowardly assault. I urge anyone with any information at all to come forward.”
