Strong winds are expected

Easter Saturday is due to be a bit gusty as a weather warning for gale force winds has been issued.

Preston’s Lancashire Market in Friargate is going ahead but stallholders can expect some gusts of up to 40-50mph.

The Met Office has issued the yellow weather warning, the lowest level alert, saying there may be low level travel disruption.

Preston and Lancashire are included in the warning area, with forecasters predicting heavy rain at times alongside the wind.

The rest of the weather forecast for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend has Good Friday being dry and settled, with highs of 12 degrees.

Rain is expected on Saturday and it will be sunshine and showers throughout Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday with highs of 9 degrees on both days.

Those attending the annual Easter Egg rolling in Avenham Park have been warned to bring their wellies.
