A woman has been rescued from firefighters after a fire at a flat in Ribbleton.

Crews from Preston Fire Station were called to Sion Close around 1.10am on Sunday.

A fire alarm had detected the blaze in the kitchen at the property.

The woman was treated for minor smoke inhalation.

Firefighters from Preston Fire Station said without the working smoke alarm she may have suffered more severe injuries.

They’ve also warned Prestonians against cooking very late in the night.
