Flowers have postponed their show at The New Continental tomorrow due to illness and the death of a 102 year old relative.
The band were due to play Preston for the first time on Friday, February 19 but the show will be rescheduled to an unconfirmed date.
Rachel, of Flowers, said: “I started off this week with a bad throat infection, but I was so excited about this tour I did everything possible (steam, cough mixture, gargling, you name it) to get my voice back in time for the start of tour today.
“I seemed to be on the mend, then last night I heard of a family bereavement, and then just this morning my nan passed away unexpectedly, on the morning of her 102nd birthday.
“It may seem crazy to anyone who didn’t know her that a death at that age could be unexpected, but she was so full of life and energy right until the end, it really was hard to believe.
“This was a woman who went swimming daily well into her 90s, hosted parties every other night, was the essence of “joie de vivre”.
“I’m deeply grateful to have been there with her and my family for her last moments, but the strain has made me lose my voice again entirely and I’m not feeling so great in general, so regretfully I’m having to take time off to rest my voice.
“I’m sure after this unfortunate break we’ll be able to do the rest of the tour without a hitch.”
Tickets already purchased are transferable to the new date or refundable.
