A rapidly expanding chicken processing plant in Deepdale has applied for a further extension to its buildings.
Gafoor Halal chicken plant in Fletcher Road wants to raise the height of its two storey building to chill already processed chickens.
Business is booming for the firm which has operated since 2005 and it says it needs more space to work with.
Plans by Equilibrium Architects state ‘a proposed higher extension is now required’ to be able to cope with forecasted additional demand in the next 10 years.
They say: “As with the previously approved scheme, no physical processing of the poultry would be undertaken within the proposed extension.
“The proposed extension will be slightly higher than the existing building, with the cladding to match that of the existing / approved building , including all necessary trims and rainwater goods.”
In mid-January the two storey extension was approved by councillors, with the condition it cannot be used for the slaughter of animals.
Anyone wishing to comment on the plans, which can be viewed on the council website, can do so there or by emailing devcon@preston.gov.uk quoting reference 06/2016/0100 by Sunday 6 March.
