The Flag Market of Preston will be alive with a show of community support.
A Community Celebration Day has been organised on the same day as the English Defence League hold a protest in the city.
Organised by the mosques of Preston the event aims to showcase the ‘diversity, multi-culturalism and unity’ of the city.
A statement about the event says: “This is an opportunity to show the beauty of our religion and our harmonious relations with the communities of Preston.”
The event runs from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday 20 February on the Flag Market, while the EDL protest is due to take place in Birley Street.
Free food and refreshment is due to be offered at the community day.
Muslim leaders in Preston had offered to meet with EDL leaders ahead of their protest over a meal to discuss their issues, but their offer was snubbed by the EDL.
