Sign left on an angle at Birley Street charity
A Preston charity has been left with a damaged sign after the weekend.
Staff at the Citizens Advice Bureau in Birley Street arrived in work on Monday morning to find their CAB sign hanging at an angle.
Janette Smith, advice services manager, said she initially thought it may have been damaged during the English Defence League demonstration.
She said: “We’ve been here for donkeys years and my first thought was there was the demo so it had to be that.
“We had taken precautions in terms of making sure we’d moved things away from the windows. I wasn’t sure what kind of trouble there would be.
“I phoned the police about the sign and they’ve checked the CCTV and it didn’t happen during the protest.
“They think it’s happened during Saturday night and someone’s had a bit too much to drink and used it to swing on.”
The sign is going to be replaced and will cost the charity ‘a few hundred quid’ for a new one and the fitting of it.
Anyone with information on what happened is asked to call Lancashire Police on 101 quoting reference SA1602313.
