Police have warned Plungington area residents to be on their guard as their pavements keep being pinched.

The paving slabs have been lifted on a number of roads off Plungington Road itself.

Karen Felton took to the Preston Past and Present Facebook group to show a recent theft.

The space left by the slabs, lifted in Broughton Street, have now been replaced with tarmac.

Karen said: “It’s not nice. It splits it and then the council tarmac where the slabs have been taken. It looks like a patchwork quilt now.”

PC Jenny Coupe, beat manager for the Plungington area, said: “In recent months there has been a significant increase in the number of paving stones stolen from the highway/pavement on numerous terraced streets around the Plungington area.

“Please can we all continue to be extra observant and report any suspicious people and vehicles to the local team. It appears these offences are occurring overnight when dark.”
