Police have dropped a murder inquiry after a woman’s body was found at a house near Preston.

Lancashire Police said the death of a 62-year-old woman was no longer being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem examination found the cause of death as a wound to the head.

The woman was found at a property in Parker Lane, Whitestake on Tuesday.

A 63-year-old man from Preston was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been released facing no further action.

A police spokeswoman said: “Following their inquiries, officers are not treating the woman’s death as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
