It might seem crazy what I’m about to write…
But Preston played host to a European first on Saturday afternoon as a little bit of happiness was sprinkled on those driving on the Ringway.
Origninating in Washington state the event sees signs saying ‘You Are Loved’, ‘You Rock’ and ‘Why Not?’ waved at drivers.
Prestonians responded with beeping their horns and giving thumbs up to the dozen or so people on a patch of grass between Preston Prison and the Museum of Lancashire.

Rob Christopher who organised the event said he was pleased with the turnout.
The 46-year-old from Leyland said: “I was over in Denver and saw one of these events taking place.
“They told me about it and how the events spread around the States.
“All the banners you see here have been sent over from America and signed by other people who have taken part in Happiness Sprinkling.”

Rob and his cohort of sign wavers spent about two hours cheering up motorists on their way to a Saturday afternoon of shopping.
He said: “We’ve been lucky with the weather and we’ve seen a few football fans as well.
“It’s a fun thing to do. Hopefully it raised a few smiles.”
