A small-scale development of affordable homes in Ribbleton has been approved.

Councillors voted for a swathe of derelict land in Thorn Street, near Morrisons off Blackpool Road, to be redeveloped.

MCI Developments and Places For People tabled the plans for 35 homes and six apartments.

No objections were received from neighbouring residents and members of Preston City Council’s planning committee voted unanimously to approve.

St Matthews ward councillor Veronica Afrin said when the plans were first tabled in November the new homes would be a ‘great addition’ for the area.
