Will you be joining the chance to make Preston happier?

A touch of happiness is due to be sprinkled on Preston by a new event in January.

The city will join a European initiative for happiness-spreading in the city.

It sees a group with signs such as ‘Free Hugs’ and ‘You Rock’ setting up on a busy Preston junction to bring a smile to people’s faces.

A Facebook event for the group states: “Everyday people gather to picket injustice, mourn tragedy, rally for all sorts of causes, and to get drunk and party…why not to sneak surprise ordinary citizens with a little cheer?

“Kind words can help heal this world…Be part of a random fun way to spread hope, love and kindness, without expecting anything in return! You are invited to join the project! Join us or start your own!”

The event begins from the Museum of Lancashire in Stanley Street from 1pm on Saturday 23 January and is expected to last for around two hours.
