Preston and Lancashire households affected by flooding during and since Boxing Day are to receive a boost from United Utilities.
The water firm has suspended all charges to homes and businesses who were flooded following heavy rain over the Christmas period.
More than 40 households in South Ribble, with many in Walton-le-Dale, were flooded as the River Darwen and River Ribble both burst their banks.
A statement from the firm said: “We know there’s more than enough for those affected by the flooding to sort out at this difficult time, without having to worry about water bills as well.
“So we’re suspending water and wastewater bills for customers who have been forced from their homes and businesses due to the storms since Boxing Day in December 2015.
“If you’ve had to move out of your property, or close your businesses due to flooding, we won’t charge for any water or wastewater services at that address until your return. If you’re on a meter, we can also make an allowance for extra water used while cleaning up.”
