A number of homes in Penwortham are spending the evening without water supplies.

United Utilities engineers have been in Margaret Road since 2pm on Tuesday attempting to fix a leak.

A customer reported it and found it was causing poor water pressure and a lack of water to a number of properties.

An update at 7.50pm said: “Our team of engineers are still on site at Margaret Road and it is taking us longer than we expected to complete our repairs.

“We’re sorry for the trouble this may be causing you and we’re trying to get the repairs done as quickly as we can.”

A further update posted shortly before 10pm said the repair was “complex” and engineers would remain on site throughout Tuesday evening and into the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The leak was fixed in the early hours of Wednesday morning and supplies are not operating normally.
