A crash involving two cars on a busy Preston road has seen an ambulance called.
Recovery vehicles have been called following the incident on the junction of Melling Street and North Road.
An onlooker, Gary Bond, said the traffic lights where Melling Street and Segdewick Street join North Road had been damaged.
He said: “It is right on the North Road and Melling Street junction.
“Not sure how the accident happened but I heard an almighty smash.
“Took out the traffic light control box, so it looks likely the lights will be out for sometime.”
The incident took place around 7pm close to the New Meadow Street Labour Club.
A police spokesman said: “An ambulance has been called to check over a passenger.
“Recovery vehicles were called. Melling Street is back open now.
“One of the passengers has been taken to hospital for a check over.
“The lights at the junction are still off but an engineer is working on them.”
